Deborah Shumpert Shaw has been married to classmate Marion Shaw for 38 years. They have three children - Anna Downing (28) lives in Las Vegas and teaches 5th grade, Justin (25) lives in Aynor and teaches/coaches at Mullins High School and Mary Rebekah Winburn (20) lives in Conway and is a cosmetologist. She and her husband are expecting their first child in August.

Deborah has taught 1st grade for 34 years and is teaching 2nd grade this year at Carolina Forest Elementary School. Deborah is officially retired but continues to teach! She spends her free time as an active member of a local garden club.
