Marion has been married to classmate Deborah Shumpert Shaw for 38 years. They have three children - Anna Downing (28) lives in Las Vegas and teaches 5th grade, Justin (25) lives in Aynor and teaches/coaches at Mullins High School and Mary Rebekah Winburn (20) lives in Conway and is a cosmetologist. She and her husband are expecting their first child in August.

Marion has been teaching and coaching for 35 years. The last 33 years have been at Aynor High School where the taught US History for 24 years and coached football and wrestling. He was an Assistant Principal for 4 years and has been the Principal for the last 5 years. Marion has also officially retired but continues to work as long as they need his assistance.
